Marina villas

The Cala d'Or customer owns a villa in the Marina or Cala Egos area, uses it from Easter to October and rents it out some weeks. The Serra 5 is the model, five seats with two loungers and an app that lets the owner or the key-holder check it from a phone. Rental use changes the brief a little; we fit a lockable cover, set simple guest instructions on the touchscreen and recommend the UV and ozone upgrade at 590 euros to keep water clear with unpredictable use. The Cala 5 is the choice for owners who want the spa for themselves and the lowest running cost.

Fincas around Felanitx

Inland the plots are large and the houses are stone. The Serra 6 goes on wide finca terraces, usually with a stone-faced surround we build to match the house. Felanitx wells are hard and we test the fill water before the first fill.

White houses and composite decks

Cala d'Or is white walls and blue trim, and a spa standing on its grey cabinet looks out of place. Most owners here ask for a composite deck at terrace height around the spa, 210 to 260 euros per square metre, which also hides the cover lifter. Composite copes better than timber with the pool chemicals and salt that reach a Cala d'Or terrace.

Community and licence

Many Cala d'Or villas are inside urbanisations with statutes on works and noise. A free-standing spa normally needs no building licence, but we suggest telling the community administrator and we provide the sheet to do it. Check with your community if the terrace is shared or the spa is to be sunken.

Summer traffic

Deliveries in July and August start at seven, before the roads around the marina fill up. The spa is in and heating by late morning and the handover is the next day once it has reached 38 °C.
