Hot tubs in Sóller and Port de Sóller
Sóller sits in a bowl of mountains with one tunnel in, and the valley's stone townhouses, orange-grove fincas and port apartments each ask something different of an installer. Compact spas and a crane that can work in a narrow street are what the valley usually needs.
Delivery notes for Sóller & Port de Sóller
Streets in the centre of Sóller are one lorry wide at best and many townhouses open straight onto them, so the spa goes over the roof or through a neighbour's garden by small crane, with a parking reservation from the Ajuntament for the morning. Fincas along the Camí de Biniaraix and the Fornalutx road have gates and dry-stone lanes where a 7.5 t lorry will not turn, so we transfer to a smaller vehicle at the road. The port has wider streets and ground-floor terraces that are often a standard delivery.
The valley and the port
Sóller buyers split between people restoring a stone house in town, families on a finca among the orange trees, and apartment owners on the Port de Sóller seafront. The first group wants a spa that looks right against marès stone and old tiles, the second has space but awkward lanes, and the third has the sea 30 m away and salt to think about.
Compact models fit the valley
Townhouse patios in Sóller are small and walled, and the Cala 3 at 200 by 160 cm is often the only spa that goes in while leaving the patio usable. The Serra 3 adds the second pump, touchscreen and app for people who use it daily. Fincas with more room take the Cala 5, and we do not often sell anything larger in the valley because the terraces were built for a table under a vine, not a 7-seater.
Stone surrounds
A spa on a stone patio looks better with a surround than without, and most Sóller customers ask us for a low wall in local stone or a timber deck that hides the cabinet. A half-sunken installation into a raised terrace is common on fincas where the ground slopes.
Water from the mountains
Sóller is one of the few places on the island with soft-ish water from the Tramuntana springs, which makes the calcium routine lighter. Some fincas are on their own well, and well water varies, so we test on the day.
Humidity and shade
The valley is more humid than the coast and gets less direct sun in winter, which keeps the cover in good condition but means a wet cabinet dries slowly. We leave a gap for air behind the spa and avoid putting it under the orange trees, which drop fruit, leaves and sticky residue onto the cover from November onwards.
Winter in the valley
Winter nights in Sóller are colder than in Palma, and a hot tub at the end of a January walk in the mountains is why most people here buy one.
